Guest Speakers at PAC Meetings

August 17:

Mr.  Malave will demonstrate how to use Campus Portal.  An application where you can see  your child’s grades, assignments, due dates and more.

Mrs. Turski, La Mesa Science Department, will discuss NGSS curriculum and expectations for the coming year.

September 21:

Mr. Patterson, La Mesa Counselor, will discuss bullying and La Mesa’s commitment to ending bullying as well as campus clubs your child can benefit from.

October 19:

Kathy Hunter, Hart District of Student Services, discussing children and social media. District discipline policies and helpful parenting tips.

November 16:

Sheriff Talk, local deputy Perry will discussing various topics such as local crime in and outside our schools, drugs and new concerning trends to lookout for.

January 18:

Kim Goldman, Founder of The Youth Project and victims rights advocate, provides free counseling, support groups and crisis intervention.

Joyce Geisse, from Hart School District Career Visions, will discuss how to prepare your child early for job interviews, resume drafting, jobs for teens and jobs that don’t require a degree.

February 22:

Mrs. Krantz, La Mesa's principal, will discuss methods how kids can talk their way out of peer pressure and overall bad situations as well as children’s use of social media and consequences. She will also share our school's safety plan.

March 15:

Sal Frias, Golden Valley Principle and Mrs. Thomas, Golden Valley Head Counselor, will discuss preparing your child for high school.  Academic Standards including AP classes as well as sports and clubs offered at Golden Valley and college prep.

April 19:

Kathy Gettman, Math Department explains 7 and 8th grade math standards and assessment process and common core.

May 17:

The PAC will present numerous Summer Tutoring programs and websites to keep your child sharp over the Summer or get them the extra help they may need to start their next year off on the right track.
